And the winner is...

After a few months on the road, we've reached the end of our journey. We are so grateful to all the people who voted and our five projects' leaders for making the DISHES on the road experiment a great success.

And the winner is: FOOD FOREST GARDENING FOR CULTURE AND HEALTH!

Food Forest will take home $500 toward its efforts to till an edible forest planted by local residents. Congratulations!

We look forward to seeing you at our next dinner this fall.

And if you have an idea for a project to present at the next dinner, our RFP opens August 23rd. The theme this fall: water.

"What If..." DISHES won a Mini-Grant?

We are delighted and honored to announce that the Gifford Foundation awarded Salt City DISHES a "What If..." mini-grant, which we'll be using both to fund a summer event (we're thinking June) and our next dinner (slated for October). We are so grateful to the Gifford Foundation for its generosity. The grant marks a new phase of the DISHES effort, and will make it possible for us to accommodate more people at our dinners and therefore possibly grant a second-place award to the runner-up project!

You can find out more information about the Gifford Foundation, or about how to apply for your own "What If..." mini-grant, on the organization's Web site. The Foundation is also holding a "What If..." film series at Art Rage gallery, screening films about community revitalization around the world. Nancy Kelly's documentary "Trust" screens at Art Rage at 5:30 p.m. on April 4.

For more about the series, click here.
